Give it a try, If you're a fan of the modern sounding rockbands that were mentioned above.ĪSIA – Resonance / Live in Basel Switzerland (CD/DVD) Great album, I became a fan of Labyrinth in their most creative period (the” Return to Heaven denied”- album is the one to get), but I like this sidestep as well. The fast track " Waiting on the egde" is the prizewinner of the album(so far). I like the songs, they have an atmosphere of recognition and power: The last song " We only say goodbye" reminds me of Alter Bridge, " Now and forever" and the beautiful "Silent cry" have that Nicklebag- touch, "Warm embrace" is heavy Shinedown- stuff, but played in an APD-style and the heavy " Alone and free" has winks of Skillet and their stylistic friends. The production is fair and dry and that has its effect on the wall of sound APD brings to us. The songs have a Nickelbag- feeling, with nods to their stylemembers AlterBridge, Shinedown, Skillet, Stone Sour and the Christian act Third Day. The music of APD is very far from the metal riffs with keyboards Labyrinth use to provide. In Roberto Tiranti, singer and bassplayer bandmate, also known for his vocal input in many Italian rockoperas and concept albums, he found his partner for the songs and the lyrics and a mutual friend, Alessandro Bissa (from Vision Divine and Labyrinth (since 2010)) took care of the drumparts. I also don't know how much albums are still left but you can always inform: of the members, except for Guru Richard Schouten, these days are playing together in a new band called Razend…but don't expect a deathmetal outfit because singer Corinne is singing in a more clean style after she started singing lessons lately……will be continued……Ī Perfect Day is an Italian powerrock trio formed by two musicians from Labyrinth, the melodic fast metal band from Massa.Īndrea Cantarelli, guitarist for Labyrinth, wanted a platform for his modern melodic rocksongs with aggressive riffs and compact structures. The complete album sounds very good and im really proud that I personally was the one that started this whole reunion idea! Also thanks to the band of course for putting their trust in me and cooperate with this whole idea.įor all the people that think Arch Enemy is Heavy and don't know Acrostichon check this band out and you will agree with me! The band did 2 shows again after this “one-off” reunion show but other live shows will be very rare in the near future… There are only 300 copies (11 testpressingsįingerprint in dog's blood & numbered, 50 colored copies & 250 black sludge copies) of this album around which also includes the 'Prologue' demo: the demo that started everything for the band in the 90's! This demo sounds still so damn heavy and still relevant these days. If you know all the Acrostichon stuff than this is nothing new just a nice addition to your death metal collection. I'm an oldschool fan extraordinary but when its up to vinyl/cd I definitely choose the luxury of a compact disc! Finally a few years later it is released on vinyl and the reason I'm reviewing it this late is simply: my record player was on the attic already for years…… Old school female fronted Dutch death metal band Acrostichon played a one-off gig in 2009 at my own Mario's Metal Meeting 3 (not Mario's Metal Mania as reported on the innersleeve) and they decided to record and eventually release this reunion gig.
